Top 2 Mistakes Made During Chest Day – 2 Min Read

“I’m always hitting chest, but I can never get my pecs to look bigger. My chest never seems to grow.” Does this sound like you? Well, you’re not alone. Many men face the same issue, and lack the knowledge on how to fix the chest day situation. Unless you make changes, you’ll always end up with the same result. You’ll keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again until you give up in the end. Don’t expect to see different results if you’re constantly doing things the wrong way during chest day.

What I want to do is to help you identify what mistakes you’re making and then offer you a solution on how to fix the problem. What’s the use in knowing that something is broken if you don’t know how to fix it? Throughout my experiences, I’ve identified the top 2 mistakes that stunt proper chest development for men who want to become a Fit Bachelor.

Mistake #1: The Same Old Chest Routine:

A Fit Bachelor’s body is great at adapting. Simply put, that’s what we are built for, adaptation. When you first start any workout routine, gains happen fast. After a while though, you will begin to notice the gains tapering off. Well a couple things are happening here. One, you are reaching closer to your genetic potential (which by the way is actually really hard to do) and two your body is adapting to the workout. It will eventually be expecting and counting on you to do the same old routine.

For example, it’s Monday, “National Chest Day”. You get to the gym. You see your friends, walk around a little, warm-up, and hit your go-to chest exercises. Well, there’s a problem with that mentality. Fit Bachelors shouldn’t be hitting chest on the same day every week! If you’re doing that, congrats you’ve successfully adapted to your chest routine that much faster. You can’t always go into chest-day repeating the same exercises and rep ranges. Challenge yourself and mix it up! When you think of building a new workout keep this in mind. A New Chest Routine needs to incorporate intensity and variety. That way, your body will be forced to keep guessing for longer duration of time. And guess what? The longer you can keep your body guessing, the more gains you’re going to see. Now get to the gym and blast your chest!

Mistake #2: Performing the Wrong Chest Exercise:

What? The wrong exercises? Yes, a common misconception is that all chest exercises are created equal. If you want to be a Fit Bachelor, you need to completely throw that ideology out the window right now before I tell you why this notion is wrong. I’ll wait a few seconds…. Ok, now that you’ve cleared you’re head, I can tell you what exercise is the culprit for small pecs. You ready? FLAT BARBELL BENCH. What?? Right now you’re probably thinking I’m crazy. Well remember? What you thought you knew before got thrown out. At that moment, you made a conscious decision to learn something new. If you want your chest to get bigger Flat Barbell Bench is the exercise you NEED to avoid at all costs.

Take Home:

Quite simply, this is an exercise meant for the ego. I often hear guys bragging about how much they can put up benching, but their chest STILL looks small. Don’t be that guy, be a Fit Bachelor. To me, it’s not about how much you “bench”, but about how you look and carry yourself. People aren’t going to see how much you bench when you’re hanging out at the beach or relaxing by the pool.

A complete and aesthetic physique will matter more when you’re out and about. Having a chest that looks big is what really matters. I’m going to say it again. Chest day and barbell flat bench is an ego lifter’s dream exercise. Ego lifting doesn’t serve a practical purpose. Flat barbell bench is a power lifting movement and let’s face it, not all of us are power lifters. So if you’re not a power lifter, there’s no reason for you to be hitting this movement.

Flat barbell bench will not help you gain the fullness your desire in your lagging chest! I know how it sounds, I’m telling you to ditch the most popular exercise in the World. I’m telling you to ditch it for your own good on your next chest day. I’m also doing you another favor.
